Welcome to my ITC predictions for the year ahead. As always I’ve included numbers and themes to provide some light reading at the end of the holiday season. Here’s a summary of what you’ll find here:
- The total ITC market will grow by 3% to reach $8.3 trillion. Net profit will grow 7% to $1.7 trillion
- Asia Pacific will see the most growth, followed by EMEA. The Americas will see the least
- The strongest country market growth will be in Singapore and Hong Kong, the weakest in Argentina and the USA
- Of the 4 ITC categories IT service and software will outgrow hardware sales, while telecom services will decline
- Spending on gaming will grow 21% in 2026. Software maintenance, Cloud services (IaaS/PaaS) and analytics software will also do well
- The increase in the severity of government-sponsored cyber attacks on social infrastructure will lead to new bans and tariffs
- The AI bubble expands, but doesn’t burst. Non-US governments work hard to regulate its use to protect jobs
- The EU expands its support for regional vendors, restricting the opportunities for dominant US and Chinese suppliers
- Increasing conflict between nations will stretch global supply chains, especially in rare earth metals
- Local/regional alternatives to dominant social media will become popular, signifying a move away from American culture
As always I’m extremely grateful to my friends in this most wonderful industry for helping me produce these ideas. I wish you all well for a successful year.
