Global ITC markets stable at $1.4T in Q1 2017

Dell Technologies reported its quarterly revenue earlier today and I’ve added that to 180 other vendors to allow me to size the global ITC market. The world-leaders are shown in the Figure above.

They are a mixture of consumer IT product companies (Apple and Samsung in the first 2 positions), large telcos AT&T, Verizon and NTT, followed by HP (where I’ve combined the revenues of HP Inc. and HP Enterprise, but without the services and software spinoffs into DXC and Micro Focus respectively).

The whole market was stable at $1.4T – see below for more detail by category:

Table – global ITC market Q1 2017 by category

Growth % Value ($B)
Hardware 0.5% $281
IT Service 4.1% $433
Software 7.8% $235
Telecom -7.4% $438
Total 0.0% $1,387

In short the positive IT growth was offset by declining telecoms spending. I’ll be working on numerous other perspectives over the coming days, so let me know if there’s some regional, country, product or service area market share or growth you’d like more detail on. I’m particularly interested in plotting the UK after Brexit and US after Trump effects.
